Man Assaults Wife for Not “Liking” His Facebook Update

A 36-year-old Texas man has pleaded not guilty to battery charges after allegedly attacking his estranged wife for failing to “Like” a status update he posted to Facebook.

Benito Apolinar had posted an update to his Facebook page about the anniversary of his mother’s death. Angry that the post had elicited no response from his wife of 15 years, he confronted her after dropping off their children at her home in Carlsbad, New Mexico, on Tuesday.

“That’s amazing everyone ‘Likes’ my status but you, you’re my wife. You should be the first one to ‘Like’ my status,” he allegedly told her before punching her in the cheek and pulling her hair. He was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time.

Apolinar was arrested the same evening of the incident. He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 22.

Real Madrid vs 109 Chinese Kids

We may have gotten plenty of great league and cup football back this weekend – The fantastic Community shield match between Manchester United and City yesterday, with a brilliant Man U comeback and one Nani ready to make the next step as he continues his chase to become Cristiano Ronaldo. We had another derby, also in China, for the Supercoppa Italiana. Another comeback, as AC Milan, with much less flair and style, took down Inter. We got the Bundesliga back, and the wonderful Dortmund. We got Ligue 1 back, which was actually a bit boring.

The most amazing match, despite being a friendly, was held in China as well. Real Madrid, wrapping up their Asian tour, played against 109(!!!) Chinese kids. Guangzhou children to be exact. Why 109, you ask? Because of the club’s 109 years of course. Real Madrid won, of course, like they did against the adults throughout their tour, but probably gave the children an experience they’ll always remember.

Swedish man's plans for home nuclear reactor spark alert

A Swedish man is being investigated by police after apparently trying to put together a nuclear reactor in his apartment, Sweden's nuclear watchdog said Thursday.

The man, named in local media reports as 31-year-old Richard Handl, contacted the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority in July to ask whether he was allowed to build a nuclear reactor, the organization's research director Leif Moberj told CNN.

That contact led the authorities to swoop down on his home in Angelholm, a coastal town of about 40,000 people known for its long sandy beaches.

"We realized he probably had radioactive material at his home which you are not allowed to have without a permit, which was why the authorities decided to inspect his home," Moberj said.

Radioactive material was found during an "extensive" inspection last month, although testing suggested radiation levels were too low for his neighbors to be worried, Moberj said.

The material included "small amounts" of Americium-241, a component of smoke detectors which cannot legally be removed from the detector casing, he said. The agency has not yet confirmed what other radioactive materials were found at the property.

Handl was quoted by the Helsingborgs Dagblad newspaper as saying he had his own Geiger counter and had not noticed any problems with radiation.

He never got the reactor going as he had just bought what was needed, Handl was quoted as saying, and now all his equipment has been taken away. Handl told the newspaper he intended to keep to the "theoretical level" in future.

Moberj said the situation was "extremely unusual" in Sweden. "I haven't heard of any similar things ever," he said.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the man-made radioactive metal americium "poses a significant risk" to health if ingested or inhaled. It recommends never dismantling or burning a smoke detector at home.

China TV Hosts Takes It All Off On Ride To Work

Stripping for the sake of the environment may be a concept many of us are not (and may never be) ready for, but for one popular television host in China, it is the way to go literally.

Ou Zhihang, a host at Guangdong TV station, has already gleaned a bit of a reputation for doing pushups naked at conspicuous locations, but he has really pushed the naked envelope as far as it can go with his ride to work, which he claims will encourage people to adapt a low carbon lifestyle.

“I want to promote environmental protection and low-carbon life via an extreme but also effective way, which is the nude body language,” Ou explained to the press.

His notorious bike ride along the bank of the Zhujiang River in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province attracted quite a bit of attention and he waved to onlookers as he posed for pictures a buffo while riding his bike.

Some people have criticized that his stunts aren’t public enough and that he should perform all of his naked endeavors in the core of the city.

Ou’s response was quite amazing considering his naked condition.

“I am a shy person in public. That’s why even in my pictures I never show my private parts,” Ou said.

Do we really think so?

It’s difficult to concentrate on shyness with everything hanging out, no?

Check out some bikers in San Francisco and their recent naked bike ride.

Foreign woman strolls naked around town

MIRI residents were shocked when a 25-year-old foreign woman walked nonchalantly in public without a stitch of clothing on her body, Sin Chew Daily reported.

The daily said the woman took off her clothes in front of a nightclub before walking naked on the streets at 8am on Saturday.

The woman walked slowly as though she was parading on the catwalk and also “danced” in front of a car.

The newspaper said some people took pictures of her with their handphones.

The woman became emotional when a group of men apprehended her and tried to put clothing on her.

She was later taken to the Miri police station, where the police asked her relatives to take her home.

Don’t roll out red carpet for Najib, Britain urged

PETALING JAYA: The consensus from international organisations is that the red carpet should not be rolled out for Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak when he begins his official visit to Britain today.
Najib begins his four-day official visit to the UK today, after which he is expected to be in Rome to meet with Pope Benedict XVI.

Najib has said that street protests are not the Malaysian way but the International Human Rights community are angry with him and the police force for denying Malaysians their basic rights during Saturday’s Bersih rally.
Amnesty International (AI) had even gone a step further and called for heads of states to censor Najib .
“Prime Minister Najib’s government rode roughshod over thousands of Malaysians exercising their right to peaceful protest,” said Donna Guest, deputy Asia-Pacific director at Amnesty International in a statement.
“This violent repression by the Malaysian police flies in the face of international human rights standards and cannot be allowed to continue,” she  added.
“The British government shouldn’t reward this brutality by rolling out a red carpet for Malaysia’s prime minister… (British Prime Minister) David Cameron should tell prime minister Najib that these human rights violations against peaceful reform protests are unacceptable,” she said.
Amenesty International also called on the Vatican to press Najib to respect human rights when he visits the pope later this week.
AI also highlighted the many complaints of police hard-handedness during the rally. It said that the use of force by the police was “excessive, unnecessary and designed to instill fear”.
The Malaysian government however has denied this and said that it has video footages of its own to show otherwise.
The international human right watchdog also asked the Malaysian authorities to investigate claims that police failed to provide immediate assistance to Baharuddin Ahmad, the husband of PKR Setia Wangsa chief, who passed away in the vicinity of KLCC due to heart complications during the rally.
The United Nations (UN) had also took Najib and the police to task for the handling of Saturday’s rally and events leading up to it.
Frank La Rue, UN special rapporteur on the right to freedom of opinion and expression, said that the Malaysian government “risks undermining democratic progress to the country” with the pre-emptive measures taken to derail the rally.
“Declaring Bersih illegal based on claims that it is trying to topple the government or it is a risk to national security and public order – in the absence of any credible evidence to substantiate such claims – is also an unnecessary restriction of civil and political rights,” La Rue added.
The UN also reminded Malaysia that as a member of the Human Rights Council, Malaysia has pledged to uphold the “highest standards in the promotion and protection of human rights”.
Meanwhile, Human Rights Watch highlighted that the estimation by the authorities over the number of protesters “lacked any credibility”.
“The claims that the number of protesters only numbered 6,000 lacks any credibility, it defies logic that the police were so efficient that they arrested almost one of every three protesters,” said  Phil Robertson, Deputy Director of the organization’s Asia Division.
Bersih organisers have said that about 50 000 supporters have turned up for Saturday’s rally. Police, however, have put the number at only 6,000. Press reports estimate that there were 10,000 to 15,000 people who participated in the rally.
“This is a maelstrom of the Malaysian authorities’ own making.  The failure of the top levels of the Malaysian government to engage in good faith dialogue with citizens demanding basic electoral reforms is the heart of the matter,” he said.
“The biggest victim is the country’s reputation as a moderate democratic state,” he added.

Number of China websites plummets due to internet controls

The number of websites in China dropped dramatically last year, a new report says, with more than a million sites shut due the Chinese government’s repressive internet controls.

China had 1.91 million websites at the end of 2010, a 41 percent drop from the previous year, according to a report by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, a government think tank.

Independent experts say the drop in websites is due to China’s heavy handed internet controls and recent censorship campaigns, the Telegraph reports

"The number of interactive websites, including online forums, has plummeted," Wu Qiang, an internet analyst at Tsinghua University, told Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post. "The drop in numbers was effective in controlling speech. Online forums and bulletin boards are much less active than before."

However, the CASS report blamed the decline in websites on an economic downturn and campaigns to root out internet pornography and spam.

"China has a very high level of freedom of online speech," said CASS researcher Liu Ruisheng, the BBC reports. "There have been very few cases where websites were shut down in recent years purely to control speech."

The Chinese government aggressively blocks human rights websites such as Amnesty International, social networking sites such as YouTube, Twitter and Facebook, and many other sites through controls known as the “Great Firewall of China.”

China has the world's biggest online population with 457 million internet users, Agence France-Presse reports.

‘Lady of Liberty’ at Bersih 2.0 march draws online support

KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 — Quiet has settled over Saturday’s chaos but one image is still making waves on the Internet — the picture of an elderly woman in yellow, drenched in rain and chemical-laced water, walking away from riot police while clutching on to a long-stemmed flower and a near-empty mineral water bottle.

She is Annie Ooi Siew Lan, a 65-year-old retired English teacher who took a bus from Setapak in the early morning of July 9 to join thousands of others in Bersih 2.0’s march for free and fair elections. An unknown man had offered her the flower in the morning and she waved it like a flag throughout the four-hour march.

Netizens have dubbed her “Aunty Bersih”, and even Malaysia’s “Lady of Liberty”, for placing her health and safety at risk to join a march the government had declared illegal.

Pictures of the diminutive Ooi strolling in the war zone that Kuala Lumpur had turned into are all over the Internet, inviting messages of awe and wonderment from netizens across the country.

On Facebook, at least three fan pages were set up in dedication to Ooi immediately after the event. One page called “Malaysian Lady of Liberty” attracted 17,176 “likes” as of 9am this morning.

Ooi was one of the few who dared to turn up in yellow to mark the occasion, despite earlier warnings that those with clothes indicating support for the outlawed Bersih 2.0 coalition would be arrested.

Speaking to The Malaysian Insider through her daughter over Facebook chat last night, Ooi confirmed that she had been tear gassed four times and sprayed with the water cannon once during Saturday’s pandemonium.

She said she was unsure of what time the rally was scheduled to start or where, but was determined to support its cause by participating in it even if she had to do it alone.

“She took the bus to General Hospital because the roads into town were blocked,” her daughter related. “She walked to Chow Kit, Maju Junction, went into the back lane of Little India to pass Masjid Jamek, avoiding cops, heading to National Mosque but was stopped at Dayabumi.”

There, Ooi was interviewed by one uniformed policeman and four others in plainclothes. They asked for her IC and recorded her details, then asked her why she was dressed in yellow. “Why can’t I wear yellow?” she asked in return.

According to a post by a blogger who claimed to have spoken to Ooi before the march began, the feisty retiree had asked other protesters why they did not turn up in yellow as well. “Why do we have to feel so scared in our own home land . . . and by own countrymen,” she had reportedly said.

A newbie at street protests, Ooi also did not know what to do in the event that she got gassed, and had not brought anything to protect herself, her daughter said.

“She wasn’t prepared for any of the attacks,” her daughter said. “She went without protection; no goggles, no masks, no salt, nothing. It was horrible . . . the coughing, and didn’t know how to stop the discomfort and pain. After the second gassing, she was offered salt by someone and it helped a lot.”

Despite this, eyewitnesses claimed on the Internet that Ooi had marched on determinedly during the protest and despite the chaos, even yelled at others not to run.

When told to ask her mother if she would dare to brave another march for the same cause, her daughter replied, “Without a doubt”.

“There was a very strong oneness in spirit which she had never felt before in this country,” added the daugter. “Especially from the younger generation which have their years ahead of them yet marched on despite the possibility of ruining their lives by getting arrested.”

Ooi was among the thousands of protesters who took to the streets of Kuala Lumpur on Saturday to march in support of Bersih 2.0’s demand for electoral reforms.

More than a thousand people were arrested, and chaos broke out at midday after the police fired tear gas canisters and sprayed water cannons to break up the crowd.

Facebook hire iPhone & PS3 hacker GeoHot! Now he is working for Facebook!

Since he came up with the LimeRa1n exploit that is still being used in the latest iOS jailbreaks, we haven’t heard much from famed hacker GeoHot. As a matter of fact, we haven’t heard anything at all. Until today.

We were just tipped off by the folks at Tech Unwrapped that George Hotz is now working for Facebook. Needless to say that I was a bit skeptical about the news and when I inquired for more details, I was pointed to GeoHot’s very own Facebook profile where he confirms that he is indeed working for Facebook…

The news got first dropped by @FlawLessFox, the founder of MyGreatFest in a video interview with iPhone hacker P0sixNinja.

According to Gabe Rivera, GeoHot started working for Facebook in May, but he only announced it on June 17. If you have a look at his Facebook profile, it’s pretty clear that he is not joking.
Wanna friend GeoHot on Facebook? Forget about it because there is actually no “Add Friend” button.

So what is GeoHot doing at Facebook? Working on the iPad version of the Facebook app? Working on the mysterious Facebook phone? Your guess is as good as mine at this point.
Let’s wish him good luck and see what he will come up with in the future.

Another Bully Case... swt..

Ernestine Shepherd: 74 years old and in the best shape of her life!

One of my goals for 2011 is to change my body shape. I want definition, tone, fitness and stamina. Yes, I want it all!

It has been exactly one year since I last did ANY form of exercise, so I decided to buy some gym equipment and have set up my own fitness plan to begin working out at home. I then thought wouldn’t it be a great idea to have a picture of the physique of someone whose shape I aspire. Being a highly visual person, it is important that I can physically 'see' what it is that I want to achieve.

Ernestine, pictured here at age 72
So, I started browsing the internet in search of this image that I could see in my mind.

And, during my search I stumbled across Ernestine Shepherd.

Some of you may have heard of her, but I had not.

Now, brace yourself folks, whether you are a gym junkie or couch spud, this woman is going to leave an indelible mark on you today... and maybe for a long time.

Ernestine Shepherd is 74 years old, excuse me 74 years young!! Yes, I repeat, seventy-four years of age.

She was awarded a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the oldest female bodybuilder, ever. She began working out at the age of 56 after her sister passed away from brain aneurysm and has dedicated her life to her own health ever since.

Her motto is: ‘Determined, Dedicated and Disciplined’ and she can be seen daily wearing her motivational tee shirts where she trains members at her local church in Baltimore, US.

Working out with her personal trainer
Now to give you a little background on this wonderful lady, she wakes up at 3am every single day to commence her workout, which usually starts with a 10 mile run and THEN she hits the weights. This 5 foot 5 inches iron woman is also a certified personal trainer and can bench press 150-lbs!

Just looking at this woman, I feel breathless, in awe, humbled, hope-full, inspired – but mostly empowered because of what she has achieved and continues to achieve within herself. Of course she has an amazing physique, but she is also highly disciplined, happy, strong and her beauty shines from the inside, out. This is one woman I would like to meet one day.

Mrs Ernestine Shepherd is a true inspiration to me and how I now envisage myself physically, mentally and spiritually at the age of 70 and beyond. Ernestine, you have sparked a lifestyle commitment for me now and I commend your determination, discipline and dedication. Thank You.

I hope this has touched you in some place in you as it has me, so that you can also take action on your health. Today.

Stay Blessed.

Girl claims she did not brush her teeth for 10 years

Everyone has a special habit. However, sometimes they get so carried away as to shock others. "Martian Virus," a popular TV program from tvN based in Seoul, introduces those with habits or characteristics that are grotesque, but those they are proud of nonetheless.

The show is to introduce a girl whose habit does match her beautiful outward appearance. Known as "Cutey Yellowish," she stopped brushing her teeth a decade ago. The last time she remembers doing so was when her mother brushed teeth for her.

"I do not understand why people should brush teeth, as it is not like others will look into your mouth," said Ji Hyun-ji, 20. "As food scrapples piles on, they will actually protect my teeth." She only wipes her front teeth with tissue on "special" occasions.

The show, which is to air April 5 at midnight, is planning to reveal dentists' diagnosis, which they claim is the most shocking of their careers. Though Ji has forgotten how to brush her teeth, the program will also try to persuade Ji to do so again, according to producer Lee Geun-chan.

Top 'Opposition leader' Anwar Ibrahim caught on sex video (Update)

PETALING JAYA: A video showing a man, resembling a top Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim having sex with a woman, believed to be a foreign prostitute, has emerged.

The 30-minute video, which showed the supposedly high profile Member of Parliament in various compromising positions, is set to rock the Malaysian political arena.

The video recorded on Feb 21 was found in a hotel room in Kuala Lumpur.

Press representatives were taken to a hotel room individually to view the video footage by a group of unknown people led by a person, who only wanted to be known as Datuk T.

Datuk T said he wanted the media to watch the footage showing the politician before sending the copy to him and his wife “to identify the person in the video” a week from now.

He said if the individual in the video was the politician he had identfied to the media, "then he and his wife must step down from politics.”

Datuk T said saying he was not “the pious person with high moral values and integrity as portrayed, and therefore is not fit to be leader.”

Datuk T said if the two did not quit politics, “I will call on several NGOs (non-government organisations) to set up an independent panel to investigate and seek professional forensic services to study the authenticity of the recordings.”

Datuk T claimed he had stumbled upon the video after he was asked by the politician to search for his watch in the room where the sexual encounter had taken place.

“As I could not find the watch on the table, I searched for it behind the dresser. I was shocked to find many strands of wires behind the dresser.

“On close inspection, I found four well-hidden CCTV cameras, I tried to open the two dresser drawers and found one was locked.

“I prised open the locked drawer using a sharp object. I found an active CCTC recorder. I disconnected the wiring and took the recorder out of the hotel,’’ he said, adding that no one had the recording except him.

“I will not hand over copies to any quarters for fear of reproduction and distribution,’’ he said.

Members of the media including The Star viewed the video clip on a computer at the hotel room, where Datuk T was heavily guarded. The Star journalist was searched and had his mobile phone taken away before being allowed to view the video. The other members of the media included those from Bernama, New Straits Times, Utusan Malaysia, China Press, the Internet portals, foreign news agencies and at least one opposition organ.

The video clip had sharp images and the woman appeared to be a fair-skinned foreigner, possibly an East Asian.

Meanwhile, with talk of the video having surfaced, PKR communications director Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad tweeted, saying the video was doctored.

Kitten abuser apologises, blames depression

The woman caught on CCTV abusing several kittens has apologised for her actions, claiming she was suffering from depression when she committed the act.

"I could not control my emotions at that moment, but now realise I made a terrible mistake, after watching the video myself," said Chow Xiao Wei.

The 20-year-old added that she was prepared to face the consequences, saying she was willing to do community service at the Society for Prevention of Cruelty Against Animals (SPCA).

The five-minute video clip surfaced on social networks about a week ago and was quickly spread by horrified viewers.

In the CCTV footage, a person wearing a cap was recorded hitting kittens with an umbrella, then stomping and kicking them.

After the video went viral, Chow's aquaintences, who recognised her from the video, posted personal information like her name and phone number online.

Chow soon began receiving threatening messages through SMS and on her Facebook account.

Due to the threats, she quit her job as a sales assistant and also lodged a police report.

Chow claimed that she was suffering from depression at that time, as her parents had divorced.

"Please give my daughter a second chance," pleaded her mother Cheong Poh Ling, who was with her during a press conference at Sri Kembangan assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah's office Sunday.

Cheong added that she had taken her daughter to a psychologist after hearing about the video, though she had not watched the video herself.

A crowd of animal lovers, including members of Petpositive and Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB), gathered outside the office demanding to meet Chow.

A few representatives from animal welfare groups were later allowed in to talk to Chow, with assemblyman Ean present.

MDDB is attempting to file charges against Chow for animal cruelty, under Section 44 of the Animals Act 1953.

If found guilty of abusing the kittens, Chow faces either a fine of RM200 or six months in prison, or both.

Bomb found at KLIA!! Flights at KLIA retimed to detonate World War II Relic Bomb

KUALA LUMPUR, March 2 (Bernama) -- Ninety-one flights into and out of the KL International Airport in Sepang were rescheduled Wednesday to facilitate the detonation of a World War II relic bomb unearthed at the nearby construction site of the new low-cost carrier terminal or KLIA 2.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad General Manager of Corporate Communications Nik Anis Nik Zakaria said 45 incoming and 46 outgoing flights were affected due to the shutdown of both runways between 11am and noon and between 3pm and 4pm.

"The authorities decided to detonate the bomb on site and, as a precautionary measure, advised Malaysia Airports to close both runways during these periods," she said in a statement.

She said the police secured the area and worked closely with the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) and Malaysia Airports to manage the situation.

Nik Anis said the affected airlines included Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, AirAsia X, Firefly, Garuda, Iran Air, Silk Air, AirAsia Indonesia, Thai Airways, Tiger Airways, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Pakistan Airlines and Eva Air.

"All these airlines were notified accordingly in order for them to advise their passengers on the flight retiming and Malaysia Airports worked closely with the authorities to ensure passenger safety remained our top priority," she said.

Nik Anis said both runways were reopened at 3.26pm.

Chinese College Girls Explicitly Seek Sugar Daddies

The phenomenon of "student concubines" is on a rise in China as Chinese students continue to face high school fees and poor job prospects.

According to The Australian, millions of females students can be found on a China's biggest dating website, Jiayuan, marketing themselves to older, richer men who are willing to support their studies and pay for a desirable lifestyle.

Among its 25 million members are students explicitly seeking men who will give them what the Chinese call the si you or "four haves" - a prestigious business or job, a house, a car and a high salary.

Zhang Yan, a female student at Guiyang Medical College, demanded 200,000 yuan ($39,091) for marriage.

"No matter who the man is, so long as he is willing to give me 200,000 yuan I will marry him immediately," she wrote on the dating site.

Local television news broadcasts showed footage of her accepting the money demanded from a young man - and even her mother agreed to the transaction.

In another case, a 54-year-old man named Wang began a relationship with a 24-year-old graduate student who listed her desires as "a man with a house in Shanghai and 1 million yuan ($195,458) in the bank".

Wang reported they met in a coffee shop and then moved in together for several months until his lover found a 60-year-old American-born Chinese man, who wooed her away with a promise to take her to the US.

Unfazed, Wang is now dating a science student who came to Shanghai with her classmate.

The classmate had come to meet a 28-year-old graduate but dropped him on their first date after finding out he rented a small house from a farmer.

"I could not fall in love with a man who didn't have his own house, even though he was young and handsome," she lamented.

The Australian also reported that apparently, young men are not averse to advertising their readiness to trade love for money, either.

Xiao Louming, a student in Hangzhou, confessed to a state journalist: "If a family can give me 10 million yuan (RM4.67 million) investment capital, then I'm ready to marry a woman 10 years older than me."

The hidden meaning of Facebook logo

Qiu Qiu’s Boobs Job

Tired of being nicknamed ‘Airport Runway’, she made her appeal as she is participating in an online show which requires bikini-clad hosts to engage various activities like reading news and playing games.

Though this kind of request is nothing new online, her blog became a huge hit , spurning a lot of wide controversy on online discussion forums. She eventually got her wish and underwent a breast-filling treatment by a doctor for free.

Qiu Qiu, whose real name is Hong Qiu Ting, said: “That posting started out as a ‘retaliation’ against critics who accused me of trying to ‘squeeze money’ from my readers.”

Qiu Qiu, 23, said: “In reality, I’d been living with the stigma of having a flat chest. I’m so tired of being called an airport runway.”

How she ended up getting the free treatment sheds interesting light on how the Internet can work to one’s advantage.

After Qiu Qiu posted her entry, she was flamed for it when someone wrote to citizen journalism website Stomp. Netizens called her a beggar and accused her of being vain. But the controversy only served to drive even more traffic to her blog – from the average of 1,000 hits to about 2,000 a day.

Meanwhile, Internet entertainment portal clicknetwork. tv took note of her blog as part of its talent scouting.

Miss Gillian Tan, 30, director of Munkysuperstar Pictures, said: “We found that Qiu Qiu was a savvy shopper and decided to produce a shopping programme with her as the host.”

Budget Barbie raised Qiu Qiu’s profile further and traffic to her blog hit 4,500 a day. She was also interviewed on RazorTV, where she defended her blog posting. And in an article in The Straits Times in July, she talked again about she hoped to get sponsorship for breasts implants before donning a bikini on her show.

It resulted in a handful of offers – including one from a public relations company representing a reputable aesthetic clinic – made through clicknetwork. tv to sponsor Qiu Qiu for the treatment.

A close friend of Miss Tan’s told her about Dr Jonathan Lee, whom she was seeing.

Miss Tan then approached Dr Lee for his participation in the project, and this eventually led to Qiu Qiu, who is also a part-time model, getting a sponsorship for a breast filler procedure last month. Dr Lee, leading consultant surgeon at The Aesthetic Studio, performed the procedure for free while medical group Q-Med sponsored the gel filler that was used.

Breast fillers cost between $8,000 and $12,000, depending on the amount of gel injected.

The standard procedure, which takes some 30 to 45 minutes, is performed under local anaesthesia. A gel is injected through special cannulas (blunt metallic tubes) either from the armpit or under the breast crease into the fat beneath the glandular tissues in the breast.

It is considered minimally invasive and does not affect the breast function. Patients have to wear a support garment for a week.

Miss Tan said: “We settled for Dr Lee because Qiu Qiu felt most comfortable with the treatment that he’d suggested.

“I also liked the fact that he was very detailed in explaining the various options.”

Dr Lee said: “I agreed to do the procedure with the sole objective of educating and informing the public of this non-surgical aesthetic procedure that can be a safe and effective option for body contouring.”

When Qiu Qiu first knew that “it” was going to happen, she didn’t dare to believe it.

She said: “Except for my sisters and my boyfriend, I didn’t dare to share the news. I didn’t want to jinx it, you know, like how expectant mothers would usually keep mum about their pregnancy until they cross the first trimester?”

Qiu Qiu added: “I had to keep reminding myself to lower my expectation and not to get too excited.”

Until the night before the surgery – when she finally posted on her blog: “… Been affected by it for too long. Been waiting for good news.

“Been for consultation a few times. Been massaging myself for it.

“This is it. I am getting a boob job tomorrow.”

After the treatment, she experienced some discomfort but otherwise was not in pain. An eight-minute clip documenting the procedure hasbeen uploaded on clicknetwork.tv.

Qiu Qiu is feeling ecstatic over her new assets and flaunting them unabashedly too.

She said: “That’s the highlight of my life so far. I can now wear a bikini and go down to the beach.

“I don’t have to carry an umbrella and pretend that I don’t like the sun.

“Do you know I can finally fill an A-cup bra now?”

Chinese Researchers Wear Panda Constumes to Fool Cubs

There is always a chance animals born and raised, at least in their younger stages, will become too accustomed to the presence of humans to fully acclimate to the wild once finally released from their voyeuristic prisons. This could cause numerous problems for the animals, resulting in the possibility that the animals will not be able survive long once released. Well, Chinese researchers have found a way to help lower the risk, and it’s actually kind of terrifying.

Hetaoping Research and Conservation Center in western China has taken to dressing their workers up in panda costumes to prevent the baby pandas born in captivity from having too much contact with humans. This idea came to light with the death of Xiang Xiang, a five-year-old male panda who was released into the wild but was ultimately killed by a group of pandas, presumably due to his past relationship with humans.

The pandas are raised by their mothers, and any and all human interaction, which is limited primarily to dispensing medicine or other health check-ups, is done while gussied up in the finest black and white panda costumes.
